Welcome to the vertical world. Climbing is a fantastic activity. It can be week long adventures at high altitudes, steep overhangs, beautiful cracks in fine granite or relaxed climbing on easy routes a nice summer evening. Whatever you aim for, the basics are the same. It all starts with a basic course.
And with beautiful solid rock in an inspiring environment, Bohuslän (West Sweden) is one of the finest areas in all of Northern Europe to climb, and our basic course is a ticket to something that might become a lifelong love affair.
The course lasts for two full days at one or two of Bohuslän’s appropriate crags. The purpose of the course is to, under safe and inspiring forms, learn the basics of rope handling and safety work for climbing, so that you can continue to toprope climb with a friend or to follow in a rope team. During the course you will also have the opportunity to get a “green card” that will allow you to climb and belay indoors in most climbing gyms in Sweden.
Our basic course follow the norms of the Swedish Climbing Association and is led by an UIAA authorized climbing instructor.

• Place and evaluate cams and nuts
• Use and evaluation of glue and drill bolts
• Use and evaluation of protection in solid objects such as trees and rocks
• Strengths and limitations of climbing equipment
• Equalization when building anchors
• Repelling
• Belaying for toprope and leader
• Movement on the rock and climbing techniques
• Emergency preparedness
• And much more
Moving on
The next natural step after a basic course is to learn how to lead. This means that, unlike toprope climbing, the route is climbed without a toprope anchor, and the climber instead secures himself to pre-placed or self-placed protection on the way up. You can learn that either on our sport climbing course “Bolt” or intermediate course “Nut”.
Lunch / coffee
Please let us also fix your lunch and coffee. Order for an extra cost of 200 SEK per day. Our climbing lunch is an organic pasta salad with chicken, served with dressing, freshly baked bread and butter. We round that off with mom Lena’s homemade organic cinnamon buns and a coffee. Maybe even an espresso.
